My New Years resolution was to start baking more. Inspired by GBBO, I don't think I'm quite there yet but here is one of my favourite recipes to follow for a quick and easy snack!
Ingredients
225g plain flour plus extra for dusting
150g butter, cut into small pieces, plus extra for greasing
125g caster sugar, plus extra for dusting
1 tsp vanilla essence
Method
1. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the caster sugar and vanilla essence and mix together to form a firm dough
2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface. Stamp out 12 hearts with a heart shaped biscuit cutter. Arrange the hearts on a lightly greased baking sheet
3. Bake in a preheated oven, 180oC/350oF, for 15-20 minutes or until the hearts are a light golden colour, Transfer the vanilla hearts to a wire rack to cool. Dust them with a little caster sugar before serving
