Hair Care Routine

Who doesn't want long luscious locks in their lives? But I was blessed (or cursed) with naturally curly hair, so this look wasn't always easy to achieve.

I have to admit, I've never been someone who spent and arm and a leg on my hair care and the products I chose were the ones that were on offer in my local supermarket. I down right refused to spend more than a tenner on my shampoo and conditioner. But as I've got older, my hair care routine has matured with me. I still straighten and blow-dry my hair far too much and I get my hair coloured regularly so I thought it was about time to invest in good hair products in the same way I invest in quality makeup. Here I share the products I've fallen in love with recently and a few tips I've picked up in order to get the smoothest, silkiest hair possible.

Having done some research online, I decided to invest in the Bumble and Bumble Full Potential range. The products are aimed at women and men who want stronger, fuller hair and who are prone to breakage or thinning. The cleansing shampoo retails at £23 for a 250ml bottle. It claims to help remove product build up and invigorates and exfoliates for optimal scalp environment. I absolutely love this shampoo! I bought my first bottle in January and didn't need a replacement until May (I wash my hair every 2nd day). A little bit goes a long way and I really feel that my hair is being deep cleaned. My scalp feels so refreshed afterwards thanks to the menthol it contains which creates a nice, tingling sensation. I follow it up with the Bumble and Bumble Full Potential Conditioner. This lightweight and nourishing conditioner helps prevent hair loss due to breakage. I've now started only conditioning the very ends of my hair as I found when I conditioned it all, the roots often felt greasy afterwards. I've really noticed a difference with fewer split ends and my hair overall looks far healthier and definitely much fuller. After washing my hair, I try to leave it to air dry as much as possible, the longer you leave it the better. I tend to leave my hair to air dry for 30-60 minutes before using a hair dryer. This way it dries naturally and I'm reducing the amount of heat damage to my hair. I also never rub my hair with a towel but rather just tap the ends dry to avoid breakage. I finish it off with the Bumble and Bumble Full Potential Hair Preserving Booster Spray that targets breakage and leaves my hair feeling fuller and stronger for longer. I've really started to notice a difference when blow drying my hair as it is nowhere near as frizzy as before and the curls are a lot less wild! After straightening it, it feels smooth and silky but full. I really can't recommend this range enough. Even my hairdresser asked what I'd been using as my hair felt a lot healthier and happier and she's now started recommending it to her clients whose hair is in need of a little TLC. Kate Middleton eat your heart out!
